And the Supreme Court just declined to block implementation of the new map.


"The action came shortly after a three-judge federal panel also turned down a separate attempt by Republican legislators and members of Congress to stop implementation of the map."

Maybe that was what the Supreme Court was waiting on.

Edit: Also from the article: "Candidates face a Tuesday deadline to qualify to run for the redrawn seats."

Which explains the double-ruling today.

Double-edit: The article also references lawsuits regarding districts in Wisconsin and Maryland. Let's hope those maps are thrown out as well. (This is coming from a non-partisan hope; the Maryland map is a Democratic gerrymander.)
